What Does it Mean to be “Biblical”?

Kingdom through covenantIn order to be biblical in our theology we must take seriously what Scripture claims to be. What, then, does Scripture claim for itself?…We affirm that Scripture is God’s Word written, the product of God’s mighty action through the Word and by the Holy Spirit whereby human authors freely wrote exactly what God intended to be written and without error…It is crucial that we read Scripture in such a way that we do justice to the Bible’s unfolding storyline–to the Bible’s own presentation and in the Bible’s own categories–as it leads us to Christ and all that he has achieved for us. We must, in in other words, let Scripture speak for itself in its own structures and categories, i.e., on its own terms.
